WELCOME
TCR Staff:
Tilley Custom Restoration (TCR) is an automotive restoration business with qualified technicians equipped to address any type of automotive restoration project. We provide quality workmanship and the professionalism in execution that your car deserves. Before any restoration project begins, we meet with you to discuss your vision and goals. Next, we discuss your expected budget and the anticipated time frame for completing your restoration.
After the initial dis-assembly and stripping, we can determine the amount of additional service needed to restore your project to your desired condition. We keep you informed and involved throughout the restoration with numerous photos and encourage you to visit the TCR shop at any time. Our mission is to not only restore cars, but exceed your expectations and build lasting friendships with fellow car enthusiasts.
Mike - Owner & Project Manager
Mike is not only an owner of TCR, but also the project manager for each restoration project. He supervises all restoration work and is heavily involved with all aspects of every build. From metal work, interior, engine, suspension and electrical, his hands are on all of it.
Michael - Custom Fabricator, Painter, & Photographer
Michael is a TCR custom fabricator. His automotive talents include custom metal design and fabrication, sound systems, body work, painting, suspensions, general overall maintenance, complete buffing and detailing. Michael also brings photography skills to TCR that help capture the before, during and after pictures of each restoration project in high quality format. He has several years of experience in these fields.
Kevin - Painter & Bodywork Technician
Kevin provides additional skill depth to both the painting and bodywork stages of a TCR project. He has acquired wide-ranging knowledge and comprehensive expertise in both of these areas during the past 45 years of work in the auto custom restoration field. He is a highly-skilled craftsman with exacting standards and a well-trained eye for detail and precision work.
Steve – Custom Fabricator, Mechanical and Suspension Technician
Steve has over 20 years of experience in custom fabrication, engines and electrical work on both street cars and race cars. His skill set includes general maintenance and repairs, welding, custom wiring and electrical systems, suspension design and building, alignment and overall drivability. He was awarded the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Mechanic of the Year.
In order to have enough space to pursue his passion for cars and restoration projects, in 2007 Mike constructed a building with an office and adequate space for restoring multiple cars simultaneously. Since then, additional tools and equipment have been purchased to help accomplish both large and small-scale restorations. With TCR’s equipment and staff in place, customer expectations have been exceeded and many award-winning dream cars have been built. TCR’s restored projects have earned several national awards at the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association shows and multiple awards and honors at car shows throughout Iowa.
2021
Tilley Custom Restoration began with its owner's genuine love of cars, a handful of tools and a single stall garage workspace. TCR owner Mike Tilley has been fascinated with classic cars and the process of restoring them for the past 35 years. His passion began at age 16 with his first father-son project in the form of restoration of a 1969 Camaro. The restoration was completed in 18 months, just in time to drive this prized possession to school during his final days as a high school senior. From that point on, he was hooked on cars. He graduated from DMACC in electronics/robotics and attended ISU in pursuit of an electrical engineering degree, all while his interest in cars and restoration projects flourished. Several decades have passed since those school days and Mike’s passion for car restoration has continued to grow.
